Why Is My Vision Blurry? Check Out These Possibilities.

January 18, 2022

The ability to see clearly is one of the necessities in life. Sharp vision is important for driving, reading, supervising young children at play and countless other purposes. There are times, however, when your vision becomes blurry for a seemingly inexplicable cause. But there’s always a reason behind eyesight that becomes suddenly or gradually fuzzy.

At the office of Dawn Rakich Optometrist, we are experts at helping our customers with their eye health as well as choosing the eyeglasses and contact lenses that are right for them. We will scrupulously evaluate your vision and patiently answer all of your questions. Your care and comfort are our top priorities.

If your vision isn’t clear, consider some of these conditions.

You need eyeglasses. Becoming nearsighted or farsighted can develop at any age, but the need for reading glasses happens to many people when they reach their 40s and 50s. Clarity problems can often be corrected with eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Your eyes are tired or dry. People who stare at electronic-device screens for hours on end blink less often than usual. Blinking is important because it spreads tears across your eyes’ surfaces to keep them clean and lubricated. Blink more often and use artificial tears.

Your eye is inflamed. Did you sleep in your contacts, not clean them correctly or wear them for longer than specified? Diseases of the immune system, such as irritable bowel syndrome, psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis can also irritate your eyes.

You have or are getting a cataract. This cloudy area in the lens of the eye that’s normally clear usually shows up after age 55 and in both eyes. But even children can get cataracts. Special glasses and lens coatings can make your vision less distorted.

Your blood pressure has decreased. If you’re also feeling dizzy and weak, you may be dehydrated. Other factors, such as particular medications, poor eating habits, hormone imbalances and heart problems can also spark low blood pressure and related blurry vision.

Dawn Rakich Optometrist’s professional team is made up of friendly specialists who are eager to help you feel comfortable and relaxed while receiving the very best in optical treatment.
